Family Sock Ball Night
June 5, 2000

Tonight we made Sock Balls for family night. Daddy went through his sock drawer and T-shirt drawer and found some old socks and old shirts that he wanted to get rid of. Then mama cut up the T-shirts into long strips. We all rolled the strips into balls, although Miranda wanted to unroll them instead. Then we stuffed the ball of rags into one of the old socks.

It was fun to swing the ball in the sock and hit people. I hit Miranda several times. She didn't like it much.

We cold have used colored socks too to make the balls nicer, but white was ok too. Daddy used a sharp pair of scissors to cut the sock just above the ball of rags.

Then he used a needle and thread to sew up the hole to make a sock ball.

We made five sock balls. Then mama found a basket and we practiced throwing the sock balls into the basket.
